The concluded 2008 Teenznet ICT Camp tagged “CLEAN AND GREEN ENVIRONMENT” in August brought together 106 children from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
These Teenz arrived at Regina Pacis College Garki II Abuja, the venue of the camp on the 1st of August. Also in attendance were 44 facilitators and 22 service personnel whose responsibility is to oversee and guide the children through out their say at the camp.
They were registered and settled in on arrival. The Teenz were prepared for the task ahead by strict adherence to the camp program time table.
The opening ceremony told place at the Wonderland Amusement park Abuja on the 4th of August. The occasion was graced by the Honourable Minister of Environment represented by Mr. Alfa, President Nigeria Society of Engineers represented by the secretary , Director Abuja Environmental board represented by Bar. Joe Ukairo, The Federal Capital Territory ICT Coordinator represented by Mr. Ombo George, parents and other guests.
The teenz thrilled the guests at the occasion and at the same time had a fun fill day See opening ceremony. Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) was there to bring these teenz to the homes of every Nigerian.
The Teenz had an excursion to Abuja sewage treatment plant situated at the wupa district o f the Federal Capital Territory. This was followed by a city tour that took the participants round monumental sites of the federal capital territory. Also incorporated were extra curricular activities such as sports, socials, career and leadership programme.
In the bid to develop our teenz in all aspects of life, they were put through series of ICT training programmes which the participants competed for awards. These awards were given to deserving Teenz on the closing ceremony by Director General of Nigerian orientation Agency represented by Mr. Ukachukwu on the 11th of August 2008. All the participants departed on the 12th of August 2008. We will not end this without acknowledging and thanking these establishments; The United Foods makers of indomie noodles, Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Wonderland Amusement Park and Abuja Environmental Protection board for their support in hosting a successful 2008 Teenznet ICT camp. |
