ABOUT TEENZNET

“TEENZNET ICT TRAINING INITIATIVE” is a foundation for teenagers (Ages 8 – 19).
It is an initiative of I.T educators in Nigeria to prepare and support teenagers in their transition to adulthood.

We are passionate about helping the Teenagers of our age in their overall development so that they will grow into Adults with rounded characters, who are academically and morally brilliant.

We seek to develop leadership and entrepreneurship qualities in Teenagers, promote national unity through social interaction and integration, and form a platform for Teenagers to express themselves and be guided in solving their problems. We also seek to create a communication network of teenagers worldwide.

We accomplish these by organising directed programmes, aimed at influencing the teenagers in the different aspects of life (Academic, Social, Moral, Health, Home care, e.t.c.).Some of our activities include;

An Annual TeenzNet ICT-Summer Camp.
Career Development Guidance/Counselling.
Organising academic competitions/awards between schools.
Creating scholarship programmes and trust fund for indigent Students.
Publishing an Annual magazine of TeenzNet’s activities.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR

Organisation of the 2008/2009 TeenzNet ICT Summer Camps.

We have under our belt, two successful planned and executed TeenzNet ICT Summer Camps i.e. the 2008 and 2009 Camps. The 2008 Camp held in F.C.T., Abuja and the 2009 Camp, in Owerri, Imo State. Both Camps involved children from all of the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.

Also present at our Camps are facilitators whose responsibilities are to oversee and guide the children throughout their stay on camp.

Included in the activities of the Camp are some extracurricular activities such as Sports, Social events, and Career and Leadership Seminars.

In the bid to develop the Teenagers in all aspects of life, they are put through a series of programmes, including ICT training classes during which the participants compete for awards.

The activities of our Camps are geared at creating an environment for the teenagers to interact and learn.

Creation of a Career Software

TeenzNet, in collaboration with First Preferred Innovators has developed a Career Software that guides Teenagers on the best Careers for them to undertake, taking into consideration their personalities, talents and abilities.

This Software was test-run on the Children in our 2009 TeenzNet ICT Camp and successfully helped them in making their choice of profession.
